Artist Good Venue Set Up TERRIBLE
Last night, thanks to the layout decision at the arena for the Sanford Jazz Ensemble, I had the worst concert experience ever, period. I have attended well over 300 performances in my life, many of them at the Peoria Civic Center and Theater. I purchased aisle tickets for this show during a presale in February to secure seats where I wanted. Unfortunately, due to poor planning by whoever organized the event, my wife and I, along with many others in section 24, had a limited view of the show. People in this section were frustrated by the unfamiliar layout of the floor area that restricted visibility. The only access to the floor for standing and sitting was through the aisle where we were seated, leading to congestion and constant movement. The setup was similar in section 14 on the opposite side of the arena. As a result, my wife and I, along with others in the first few aisle seats, were constantly disrupted by people going back and forth for drinks, hindering our ability to enjoy the show. Many attendees in our section were dissatisfied with the lack of access points to the floor, which is a standard feature at most venues. I have attended shows with both floor tickets and seats, but I have never encountered such a poorly managed setup that funneled people to a single access point. Despite having tickets for upcoming events, including Five Finger Death Punch and The Blue Man Group, I will not be returning to the Peoria Civic Center complex after the disappointing experience at the Sanford Jazz Ensemble concert.
